Luisita and Alfredo are waiting in anticipation the arrival of Gumersinda, the new governess. Luisita is not happy because she thinks this person is not going to be as flexible as the previous governess who allowed her to make her own decisions like getting up late and studying only the subjects that she liked, and she could always go to the garden. Luisita thinks that someone named Gumersinda must be old and ugly and promises not to obey her orders on anything, and she will ask her mother to fire her right away. When Gumersinda arrives Luisita is surprised because she sees a young lady, pretty and kind. Alfredo and Gumersinda establish a nice relationship to the point ehere they play tennis and golf in their free time. Alfredo also shows her his insect collection, a courtesy that he didn\u2019t even have for his sister. Luisita disobeys Gumersinda on everything and makes life impossible for her until, one day, because of the torrential seasonal storms Luisita has an accident on the river.
